College is an exciting time for everyone. It's a time when individuals step out on there own. A time where they leave home and learn about themselves. A time where they can find themselves and who they want to be. When I decided to attend Longwood University as a senior in high school, I was still very iffy about my decision.
I was, and still am, a homebody. I was worried about leaving home and being on my own. I was worried that I wouldn't make friends or be successful in my school work. Even when I arrived at Longwood to start my freshman year, I still had my doubts. In fact, I wanted to leave Longwood. But thanks to my mom and one of my dearest friends, I decided to stay.
Going and deciding to stay at Longwood is the best decision I have ever made. I found my home at Longwood. It is something about Longwood's campus. It's mesmerizing and beautiful...it is home. Anyone who steps onto its campus cannot help but fall in love with it. Longwood has helped me grow and develop into the person that I am today. It has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, believe in myself, and push myself.
At Longwood, I have met the most amazing people. People from near and far that have made huge impacts on my life. Some of these people have come and gone, but the memories that I have made with all of these people will last a lifetime.
I cannot imagine what my life would be like if I was not a Longwood Lancer. If I had not stepped out of my comfort zone and given this beautiful university a chance. This university has given me so much and has stolen my heart.
Thank you, Longwood for stealing my heart four years ago and shaping me into the student and person that I am today. I do not want to leave you in a year, but I am hoping and praying that I will be with you for another two years in grad school.
Nowhere compares to Longwood and I am so blessed to be able to call this place home.
