Hi, how are you? I hope your day is going well enough…
I have a few questions and comments for you, though. Please seriously consider your responses.First, do you seriously think “it’s gross” is an appropriate argument as to why same-sex marriage is wrong? "It’s gross" is what you say to escargot or Enokitake mushrooms (if you’re not an adventurous eater). "It's gross" is not what you say to two people who love each other's desire to spend the rest of their lives together. That's obnoxious. And immature.
I hate to break it to you, but "the Bible says it’s wrong" isn’t really a valid argument either...The Bible says being gay is a sin, but it also condones slavery and stoning people to death. Now, I'm not saying that the Bible is bad-- it’s not at all. It’s just that not everything included in it is appropriate and acceptable today. For example, homophobia.
What do you mean when you say being gay is “not natural"? Last time I checked, people are natural... Sex is natural... You know what isn't natural? Monogamy... Maybe no one should be allowed to get married
Also, do you actually know any gay couples? Because I have a feeling that if you did actually know a same-sex couple that was married or in a serious relationship, you would reconsider your viewpoint. Wait… do you even know any gay people? They’re not bad people… Trust me, they deserve every right that you (if you are straight) and I have.
Finally, why do you care? Why do you care that gay marriage is legal?Does a marriage between people you don't know affect your life? Does a gay couple getting married mean you can't get married? Does the legal union of two people of the same gender hurt you or a loved one? I didn’t think so.
Thank you, I’ll step off my soap box now.
