Dear Future Me,
Calm down. Put down your phone and finish that slice of pizza in your hand because we need to have a talk. Despite what you think, you're actually doing great. I know you're staring at your Lilly Pulitzer agenda thinking the world is going to end, but believe me it's still turning.
I hope you're taking care of yourself. I hope you finally did something about those acne scars on your left cheek, but if not, it's totally cool because current-me thinks it adds character. I hope you decided to actually stick to that 30 day butt workout and made it past day three. But, I also hope you didn't because frozen pizzas still better be a vital part of your diet.
I hope you learned to finally trust yourself. I hope you let go of everything and everyone weighing you down. I hope you realized that if someone wanted to stay in your life, they will make the effort to be a part of it. I know that there are special people in your life, and I hope you are holding on to them tightly.
I hope you have a pet and I hope that it is alive and well. Seriously, go feed it. I hope you're not lonely and you've surrounded yourself with people who want nothing but the best for you. I hope you cut all of the negativity out of your life and continue to feed your curiosity.
I hope you finally got a passport and traveled, damn it. I hope you've fallen madly in love with foreign places and different faces. I hope you've learned to see the beauty in the world and the potential in others. I hope you never gave up on your dreams and started living them instead.
I have big expectations for you, future me. I hope you've accomplished everything you've written on those neon post-its that have cluttered your bulletin board since high school. I hope you've taken a lot of pictures and saved every memory, because your dresser still has room for a few more ticket stubs and embarrassing group pictures.
I hope you don't forget about me. I hope you hold on to everything you were, and continue to look at the amazing person you will be. I hope you remember where you started and cherish the people who were with you since the start. Keep finding love in the strangest places. Keep spreading hope where there is none. Keep your friends closest, and your enemies closer. Never forget who you were, embrace who you are, and be the best you can be.
Keep making me proud.
Love, Me.
