Open Letter To The Girl Who Edits Herself

You DO NOT need apps to make yourself "pretty, skinny, or have whiter teeth."

Dear, girl who edits herself.

So let's get real girl in the dining hall line who bragged about photoshopping herself. The girl who spends her 20 minutes after taking a photo editing it to make her teeth whiter and waist smaller. The girl who cries's after taking a photo and her legs aren't at the right angle.

This is for you.

I need you to know one thing and if you don't get anything out of this letter at least get this. You DO NOT need apps to make yourself "pretty, skinny, or have whiter teeth."

I promise you that you are dropped dead gorgeous the way you came out of the womb.

You may be asking, why are you writing this?

Well, to answer: I was standing in the omelet line at the dining hall about to get omelet on and I hear three girls behind me discussing how much they paid for an app that makes them look skinnier. Another, bragging that her "gut" was not looking so "guttish" after slimming it. And another girl hating on herself for not having a slimmer face. I about lost it. These girls were dropped dead gorgeous!

God made you perfect the way you are. These apps and editing systems are destroying girls self-esteem. They think that they will help them come off as pretty and skinny but in reality, no one will recognize them in real life.

I know you may not think it's fair for me to say things like this when I'm 120 pounds and rarely wear makeup, but I never used to be that way. I used to be 200 pounds with every roll in the world living on my stomach. BUT I rocked bikini's and strutted my stuff.

I promise you that your real friends will lift you up instead of tearing you down. Your future spouse will not care if your teeth are brighter than the sun. Do not let others around you encourage you to edit yourself. It is time for you to love yourself.

YOU ARE AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL THE WAY YOU ARE.

No matter what, please look at yourself with love. These apps and editing systems are ruining the way we perceive ourselves.

So girl who edits herself, please look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself that you are a perfect imperfection. We may have blemishes, acne, and scars but we also have beauty, self-confidence, and a wonderful body.

I'm writing this because I love you and want you to love you.

Stay calm and confident.

xoxo

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
