A Letter To My Peyton Sawyer

Thank you for showing me Brooke and Peyton's best friendship on One Tree Hill, and thank you for proving to me it can really happen.

A Letter To My Peyton Sawyer
Madyson Gasper

The beginning of freshman year in college is very stressful and can be very scary. Going into a completely new atmosphere without your best hometown friends and family is not easy. Becoming an adult and having to make choices on your own without mom or dad is not easy. When you came along, the experience became a little more bearable and fun!

I remember meeting you for the first time. Because of mutual friends, we had seen each other a lot! I had never thought you would mean as much to me as you do. I had never thought a year or so later, we would be inseparable. I know for a fact without you by my side, there is no way I could've gotten through freshman year of school alone. I'd like to believe you feel the same way. You always hear people say that you meet your best friends for life in college, and I never believed them until I met you.

Because I'm moving away in just a few days, I just want to thank you for so much that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. College will be hard without you, but I know distance ain't got nothin' on us (Wink). I really am a better person because of you. I'm going to miss you so much.

Thank you for being my:

Partner-In-Crime.

Dance buddy.

OTH Junkie.

Shoulder to cry on.

Snuggle buddy.

Second closet.

Karaoke partner.

Ride to school (We both went to a tech school, staying at a university AND got the same dorm assignment. Fate? I think so!).

Baby lover.

Family girl.

Ice cream, candy, and other sweets eater.

Party friend.

Girlfriend (Because parties can be scary, and sometimes you need to play for the other team for a night.).

My rock.

Adventure taker.

Best friend (More like lover. We are inseparable.).

Peyton Sawyer.

I really don't think I will ever meet someone that is anything like you. There are so many things we have done together, and so many things we WILL do together. I can't wait to see where life takes us. We always talk about how we are going to have babies and have them be best friends like we will. I think we're right. I hope they fight like us too because then I will know for sure they are fighting to keep each other in their lives. I have nothing but good things to say about you and to wish for you. I'm so thankful you came into my life and for teaching me that Brooke and Peyton aren't just a TV best-friendship.

As Peyton Sawyer said herself, "At this moment, there are 6 billion, 471 million, 818 thousand, 6 hundred, 71 people in this world. Some are running scared... some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day... others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men at war with the good, and some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in this world. Six billion souls... and sometimes... all you need is one."

You are my one. I love you. I'll miss you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
