Dear Tired College Student,

If you are reading this, then the title probably perfectly describes you: You are tired. Well, as you probably are already aware, you are not alone. You are tired, he is tired, she is tired, and the rest of us are all just as tired as the next person. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of the word tired is being "drained of strength and energy; fatigued often to the point of exhaustion." We can admit to definitely being both of these at certain times during the school year. It has been a long (almost) two full semesters and we have about had it with this whole "education" thing. We are sick of the long classes five days a week, endless weeks of midterms that seem to go on forever until the final exam hits us in the face, tons projects that have been piled on at the last minute, and the mounds of homework that have yet to be completed for multiple different classes. It is as hard as it is suppose to be, if not even just a little bit harder. If you're not one of us, then you might not fully understand what we mean when we complain so much.

College is suppose to be hard; we all know this. It is suppose to challenge us to our very core in order to see how hard we can push ourselves to achieve success, not just in academics, but in life as well. With this challenge comes hundreds of hours of studying each semester. After having our heads in books for too long, we begin to feel that downfall that is most commonly known as pure exhaustion. As college students, this exhaustion can lead to certain thoughts such as questioning if you should attend class that day, complete certain assignments on time, or just completely rebel from all academic work until you have slept the equivalent 12 hours every day for a week straight. When any of this happens, minus the sleeping part, grades can begin to suffer due to our lack of sleep and concentration. This is when the challenge really begins. Any of this is totally fine as long you make sure that the grades stay relatively the same, and you can check them while you lay in bed that day. It's weird how things work out so well.

To the college student who is reading this right now, don't forgot that you aren't alone; we are all tired. Try to remember that you have less than a month left of lectures, exams, quizzes, projects, and presentations until you are free for the summer, so make sure to put in that last attempt at effort before your chances are up. After this month, you are perfectly fine to lay on your couch for the three months after that without anyone judging you. With this in mind, don't forget to keep pushing through because we all know you can do this. I wish you the best of luck.

Sincerely,

Another Tired College Student

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
