I've told you many times how college has been the best experience of my life. Now that it's your turn, you should keep some things in mind.

Stay true to you.

You'll find those who are similar to you and share your likes and dislikes. You should never feel like you have to change or do anything that makes you uncomfortable to gain friends.

Take risks (within reason) and don't be afraid to try new things.

Go out and try new things, meet new people, and join new groups on campus. The groups you find yourself dedicating time to will bring your closest friends in the long run.

Take the time for your classes, even if it means missing out on something fun.

If there's one thing our parents have raised us to do, it's to get the job done and to get it done well. If you have to miss going out with friends to stay in to study for a test - do it. There will always be another chance to go out, but grades leave a much larger impact.

Call home.

We're two very very different people, but there is no comfort like the one brought on by calling home, even if you're just walking home from class.

Protect yourself.

There are so many fake people in this world and so much harm out there so take the precautions before you go out and experience new things with the freedom of college. Do that even if everyone around you thinks you're being paranoid or ridiculous, it's always better to be over prepared.

Spend your money wisely, eventually, it runs out.

That doesn't mean don't treat yourself, just be mindful of your spending habits and your bank account.

You've made me proud since day one with your brilliant brain and athletic abilities and this next chapter is going to bring you endless opportunities. You're going to have such an amazing time at college and I can't wait to hear all about it soon!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
