A Letter To The Man Who Will Love My Little As Much As I Do

You may be tall, you may be handsome, and you may be the luckiest man on the face of the earth because we have something in common.

A Letter To The Man Who Will Love My Little As Much As I Do
Katherine Wiseman

To the man who will love my little as much as I do,

There is a special girl in both of our lives, and through my time with her, I have been able to grow and change as a better person. I know that being in her life is something special, and so I hope that you cherish it. When I found out she was my Little, I was ecstatic, because this charismatic, hilarious, dedicated human being was going to be a part of my life for a very long time. We met for the first time at a Chick-fil-A and laughed over crispy chicken and fries, bonding both as sisters, foodies and as new friends. There was something there, which I now know was fate, that told us we were supposed to be friends and sisters, and learn from each other every day. So you can imagine that I have a few things to say to the man who loves her, and who she has picked for herself because I will always be there to protect her.

You are the luckiest man on the face of the planet. It’s true; you may be tall, you may be handsome, and you may be exactly what she needed, but you are so lucky because the young woman who has come into both of our lives and stolen our hearts has chosen you.

My Little is so many things to me; my sister, my ally, my family. She is the light in my week, the one who I make (and ruin) cookies with, and she is the reason I know I have to be a good example. More than that, she is courageous, outgoing, intelligent, and an inspiration to me and the world around her. I once thought that there was no man who would deserve her in their lives because I know that I didn’t deserve her when she came into mine, but my mind has been changed by you. And you should be proud of that. I’m not an easy person to please, and if I could, I would tear apart the people who have hurt her, because that’s what Bigs do for their Littles. We have so much in common, all drawn together by the fact that this tornado of Lilly Pulitzer and sorority letters have chosen us to be a part of her life.

I know that you will question whether or not you are good enough for her because I know that feeling. You will feel it sometimes, and it may make you want to run away, but you shouldn’t, and I know that firsthand. In a different way, I often question how I got so lucky because the sister that I was supposed to mentor has become an example for myself. Have faith that she chose you for a reason, and don’t forget that she chose you, not the other way around.

Don’t be the one to break her heart. You will disappoint her at times, and she will disappoint you, and although not often, you will want to hate each other. Stick it out, because if you do, and if it’s meant to be, you will fight for each other with the fierceness that a mother bear protects her cub.

Congratulations, you scored the jackpot! My Little chose you, just like she chose me, so learn from my example and be the best person for her because she will do the same, and transform you into the best person that you can be.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
