A Letter To My Future Bridesmaids

To my future bridesmaids,

I may not have found my man, but I have found my wo-man. More like wo-men. Women. Multiple, because I can’t pick just one. I love all of you, and I can’t wait to have you by my side as I walk down the aisle.

This is a privilege. Only the best of the best have been chosen for this honor, be grateful. Count your blessings. You may be wondering why you’re chosen. Is it my lack of friends? Is there really no one else to chose from? Where are my biological siblings? No, I chose you. You are my people, and this moment can’t happen without you guys.

It all started from the beginning. It was rocky, I mean we were strangers, but the little rifts have made our friendship that much stronger. The number of firsts, the “remember that time when” moments, the late night talks have only made me appreciate our friendship that much more. You brought me my sweatshirt when I was cold, held my hair back in times of need, offered warm cuddles when I couldn’t hold back tears any longer, and have almost made me pee my pants of laughter more times than I can count. Even when we don’t get along over small things, I know at the end of the day that our friendship is worth more than any argument.

I had this “ah-ha” moment, where I looked around the room in the beginning of the year and it all became clear. You are the people that will be there until the end of the aisle and stand right next to me on one of the biggest days of my life. We were sitting in a circle, some of us too drunk to play the games, talking about the struggles of boys and college while counting how many M&Ms we could fit in our belly buttons. We reminisced on dancing in the basement trying to figure out how to properly ride a horse while getting inspiration from Channing Tatum in Magic Mike XXL.

From you guys, I have learned when to sorority squat, how to find the perfect lighting for selfies, and how to take a shot. From you guys, I have been educated on when to text back the boy you’re low-key obsessed with and you’ve also taught me when to move on. You have taught me that I’m worth more than that random frat boy, and that I deserve the attention of someone who matters, because I matter. You remind me constantly that I am more than I give myself credit for, whether I listen or not.

It’s weird to think about the type of friendships that I had before I met you. No friendship before college was as comprehensible as the one we’ve created since walking into our new home. Thank you for telling me when my outfit doesn’t match and going above and beyond to make sure that I go to bed with a smile on my face. You give me confidence to be better, to work harder, and to hope for an even brighter future...especially one with you, my best friends...and preferably Zac Efron.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
