Beautiful Escape Music Video

Beautiful Escape- Streaming on all platforms

This past week I had the amazing opportunity to virtually interview LIVVIA and get the behind the scenes scoop about her newest single Beautiful Escape. I'll start this off by saying if you have not heard the song or seen the YouTube video yet, then you are missing out.

LIVVIA, born Olivia Somerlyn, graduated in 2018 from UC Berkley where she received a degree in economics. Aside from being an educated college graduate, she is a true role model for anyone who wants to deep dive into the music industry. She has left her footprint on the music scene especially after touring with artists like the Jonas Brothers, Megan Trainor, and Jessie J. LIVVIA said that she was motivated to pursue music because she could create something meaningful that would impact and reach listeners.

During her interview, I asked about how she was able to relate to her new song Beautiful Escape. *Spoiler Warning* It is about the end of a relationship. She described the song as being nostalgic and reminiscing on your past relationships. She felt that people could relate to ending a relationship with a partner or best friend and wanted this song to really admire the sentimental moments.

Again, if you haven't seen the video go watch it because this might spoil a few things. The video is total quarantine vibes that are fitting for what is going on right now. But the most interesting part was that this song and video were recorded in social distance settings (impressive I know). I asked her how she is coping and staying motivated in these times and she had a very optimistic outlook. She compared the situations to the world to a caterpillar in a cocoon saying that at the end of it all there will ultimately be changed for the better.

After asking about what she finds most important in music, LIVVIA told me the connection to listeners is what she values. She described how in some scenario's songs can bring you back in time to a vivid memory. She also said that putting a positive and relatable message out into the world is important to bring people up and to help instill validation in what people are feeling.

LIVVIA described her music as always evolving with trends while maintaining her own artist integrity. Some of her biggest inspirations are Coldplay and the Jonas Brothers, as their music has aged timelessly over the course of the years. She also spoke of admiring her fellow writers, label executives, and producers for being supportive and motivating.

Her biggest advice for new musicians was to find why you are wanting to make music and then differentiate yourself. Once you have those two things, hold on and don't lose sight of what you want – even when things become difficult and discouraging. She also described her own writing process of finding inspiration in life experiences to just spark ideas.

This young, independent, motivated musician is on her way to greatness with her positive mentality and plans to hit the roads touring as soon as it is allowed and safe. But for now, she'll be sticking to the socially distant studios and writing away to bring the music industry the next big hits.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
