Let's Talk Disney-Resort Style

As I'm sure many of you know, our hometowns in Southern Louisiana have been hit hard by Mother Nature, and many of our friends and family are facing destruction. I could've written about the ongoing flooding, but I'd like to spread some positivity this week and maybe, even for a second, get someone's mind off of the disaster and on something much more magical.

Disney World is almost always referred to as the happiest place on Earth, and for good reason. Families from all over the world pack up and spend a few days together, in hopes of creating memories that will be cherished and last a lifetime. My family is no different. My parents are Vacation Club Members, and this year the five of us (I have two younger sisters) are annual pass holders. In June, I visited Disney for the 28th time, and will be going again in January and possibly February. Needless to say, for a twenty-one year old I know my fair share of Disney ins and outs and I really want to start a line, if you will, of Disney blogs that can potentially help out or pep up a family's Disney vacay.

This week I'll be focusing on three Disney resorts! I'd like to preface with this...Disney hotels are not the most wallet-friendly places to stay. I am not too prideful to say my family doesn't always stay on the grounds even with our Vacation Club perks. But even if you aren't staying on the grounds, the resorts still offer a lot of fun and exciting things to make your trip more worthwhile!

Okay so I'm going to start with my all time favorite and most stayed at resort: Disney's Boardwalk Villas. It is a Coney Island-inspired resort with a literal boardwalk that includes restaurants, magic shows, a bakery, arcade, AND a boat to two of the four parks! It's close proximity to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot is a gem in itself, but in addition to that, it is very luxurious and through all my years of staying there, my family has never had any issues. I highly recommend this resort!

Next: Disney's Polynesian Resort...although I have never stayed here personally, my parents have and love it. It is one of the few resorts close enough to the Magic Kingdom to take a monorail to and from. Also, they have newly added bungalows that are worth checking out! It's a favorite of mine because of my family's go to dinner reservation, Ohana's. Ohana's is an all you can eat, Texas de Brazil-esque luau themed perfect dining experience. When children aren't being fed they are invited to play fun games like the limbo and coconut races. Also, if you go at the right time the dining area syncs with the firework show at the Magic Kingdom and you can basically feel like you are right there in the park while you eat your weight in Hawaiian cuisine.

In February 2016, my family and I went to Disney for Mardi Gras and stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first time. This resort is simply gorgeous. The detail in the decor and architecture is flawless and it has not only one but two, delicious places to eat: Boma's and Jiko. The best part about this resort is there are literal animals that stay on the grounds and can be seen from the lobby and some rooms! Giraffes, ostriches, zebras...a unique treat for people of all ages.

Amongst these resorts, my family has stayed at Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, the All-Star resorts, and Pop Century. We are trying out Disney's Beach Club Resort in January, and I hope to continue adding to my list of hotels I've stayed in. For now, I hope families keep an open mind to the three I've mentioned, but regardless where one stays, a vacation in Walt Disney World is a great one!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
