What is Dressember?
An international campaign that helps to promote anti-human trafficking by wearing dresses every day during the month of December. The modern-day slave trade is one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
Right now, in 2017, there are over 20 million people trapped in slavery, both sex trafficking and forced labor. Dressember is important because it is an awareness for free women to stand for freedom for those who are not.
Why dresses, you may ask? Well, because it is the statement of the whole entire movement. It gets people curious especially if they see you in your everyday life. In the past four years of the campaign starting,
Dressember has raised over 4 million dollars to help increase global awareness. To get involved, click here.
Why should you do it?
Whether you are an advocate or not, you contribute by donating or sharing Dressember on social media to help the cause. You are able to promote a world-wide issue, helping to educate anyone you come in contact with. Through this, they are able to rescue, protect and restore lives of people who were in the midst of human trafficking. Dressember is also partnered and sponsored by numerous other anti-human trafficking organizations that work together for a common goal. They are striving to rescue people who are enslaved around the world to bring them back to safety and freedom. For more information, click here, here and here.
