Let's Talk: About Anything and Everything

Let's talk....

Let's talk about Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who refuses to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples and how she is being PRAISED but shouldn't be.

Let's talk about how blame is STILL being put on rape victims for the outfits they were wearing.

Let's talk about the 14-year-old boy, Ahmed Mohamed, who was ARRESTED for making a home-made clock for his teacher.

Let's talk about the all the bombings and KILLINGS occurring in Syria, basically becoming a genocide.

Let's talk about RACISM and how some people refuse to believe it still occurs everyday, everywhere.

Let's talk about the problems still occurring in FERGUSON that the media won't report because it's not longer the 'hot' story.

Let's talk about how Americans are more worried about a FLAG than all the people without a home, struggling to stay alive.

Let's talk about mental illness awareness and how mental illnesses SHOULD NOT be considered a taboo in our culture.

Let's talk about how every 12.8 minutes, a suicide occurs but yet Kim K's new Instagram post makes the news INSTEAD.

Let's talk about America's school system and how students are focused more on passing rather than actually LEARNING.

Let's talk about Donald Trump...actually let's NOT.

Let's talk about how America is turning into one giant ball of problematic MESS.

Media and news will only show us the stories that will get them ratings and viewers and never the full stories, but things need to change. It's time to talk to peers, strangers, friends, family, leaders, officials. It's time to open some eyes and make some changes, it's time to talk.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
