Let's Make Social Media More Social And Less Political

I don't want a newsfeed full of people trying to shove their political views down my throat.

Let's Make Social Media More Social And Less Political

Nowadays, you hop on to social media and instantly find your newsfeed saturated with political rants, negativity, or fake news. If you're anything like me, you find yourself cringing as you're scrolling.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and political view. You do you. It only becomes a problem when all you see on your newsfeed is negativity, political rants, and fake news.

I don't want a newsfeed full of people trying to shove their political views down my throat.

Yeah, I said it, and I bet I'm not alone.

Sure, a solution could be to change the algorithm of these social media platforms, Facebook is the first one to have a go at doing so, but we shall see if it truly works. Another could be to simply unfollow those who are constantly ranting. Yet, just because one person goes away from your newsfeed, doesn't mean they all go away. You may be able to filter some, but not all.

Social media is more than political views, negativity, and fake news.

Let's get back to making social media more enjoyable.

Now, this is where Oprah would come in and say, "You get a dog video, and you get a dog video, everyone gets dog videos!"

Sounds all enticing right? Of course, all of that is easier said than done.

Instead, an alternative would just be to appease everyone.

We should have a page on all social media platforms, just like the explore page we currently have on Twitter, for solely news and politics. This allows those who want to engage in debates to duke it out on there. Do you want to create awareness? Totally support it, but it should have its own designated spot. There should no longer be "stumbling upon" posts. Why not let us actively seek it out in a designated area? Meanwhile, those who use social media for the social aspect are able to actually enjoy their time spent more on those platforms.

It's not some iron curtain, shielding the truth or whatnot.

It's simply allowing people to have a choice and to actually find joy in using social media again.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
