Being a girl is hard. Can I get an amen? There's so much tension and competition between women these days, especially now with sometimes-superficial social media platforms like Instagram and VSCO. Being a woman is tiring, and it can be hard to get along with other women. Sometimes it can seem too difficult to even make an effort. But what if that all changed?
What if, instead of looking away after making eye contact with another girl, you smiled and greeted her? What if, instead of liking her Insta pic and wishing you had her hair, you commented and told her how bomb she looked? What if, instead of dodging her in the hall because you think the two of you might have beef, you invited her out for coffee and smoothed things over?
The world would be a completely different place, let me tell you. If this were a world where there was no hostility between women, it'd literally be so much easier for us all. I don't know about you, but it sounds pretty good to me.
Ladies, I think it's time that we start loving one another better. Instead of allowing ourselves to get caught up in who's prettiest and who has more Insta followers, we should start celebrating one another's successes. We need to start showing genuine kindness and genuine love for one another. We need to stop overthinking and stop fearing rejection. We should aim to love one another and lift each other up in hopes of creating a better environment for women worldwide.
Together, let's make a concerted effort to end the unnecessary tension and end the competition. Let's encourage one another and build one another up. Next time you have the chance, reach out to a girl you aren't close to or smile at the girl who looks upset. It's the little things that make a difference!
This is a change that will only happen if we make a conscious effort to be genuine, honest, and loving. We're all hoping to be loved and trying to find our place in the world. Let's go through life together, and let's love one another!
