With so many things in my life, there is bound to be some things I am most thankful for. These are things that are apparent throughout my daily life and I am thankful for them every day.
The first thing: my family.
They remind me how proud they are of me. Whether they say those words exactly or they just simply say, "I love you", they make me push myself to be the best I can be.
The second thing: my friends.
They have stuck with me for 2 years now, dealing with my constant craziness, my overly emotional times, and listening to me talk for hours. They keep me grounded when I feel like I'm going to explode and lift me up to the skies when I feel at my lowest.
The third thing: coffee.
I think I speak for most when I say, coffee makes me a better person. Coffee starts my day and keeps it going. Not only does it help wake me up and keep me awake, but there is a moment in the morning when I'm drinking that first cup where I'm just so thankful for the life around me.
The fourth thing: music.
Music has kept me going throughout my whole life so far. It has the power to lift me up and change my outlook on life itself. Music moves my soul, which I know sounds cliched, but it's true!
The fifth, and final, thing that I am so thankful for: books.
I have recently just returned to reading books for pleasure and not for school, it has been amazing! I found a part of myself again in books. Connecting to the characters, peaking inside the fictional lives and believing they're real, it's truly an experience I wish upon everyone. You always hear about a book's ability to transport you to another place and it's absolutely true!
* * *
All of these things make up my daily life and I would be lost without them. Between family and friends, I feel the true power of loving another human being. I would be lost without them and for that, I am thankful to have so many wonderful people in my life. Coffee, music, and books may seem like such trivial things to be thankful for but to me, they've had a serious impact on my life.
Yes, even the coffee. That early morning cup, sitting in my living room, just thinking about my life, nothing can beat that feeling like you are right where you are supposed to be in that one moment.
Music and books? Life changing. Everyone has that one song that can just put them in the best mood. I would hope everyone would have a favorite book that can take you to your favorite place.
So this holiday season, and every other season for that matter, I encourage everyone to find those daily things that impact your lives. They might not feel like they make a huge impact, but coffee? Come on, it changes lives! I implore you to find those things and think about how different your life might be without them. Be thankful for them and always remember how it feels to have them in your life.
