School. Family. Friends. Relationships. Money. Time. Sports. Social life. Faith. Work.
Just a few things we need to balance on an everyday basis. Looking around, it is pretty easy to think ‘that girl’ or ‘that guy’ has it all together. So why are we quietly freaking out about our lives when everyone else's seems perfectly fine? Guess what. That girl or that guy doesn’t have it all together either. Finding the perfect balance is by all means not easy and it is a balance I am still trying to figure out. Even though my plate can get a little too full sometimes, I know I’ll be able to handle it. The reason why? God’s got my back.
Learning to let God take the reigns is not easy to do. We like to have control in our lives. We want things to go a certain way so we try to force our plans. It is easy to lock in our heads what we think is the right choice or the right way to go about a situation. We all make plans. Plans are good. Whether it be what to eat for dinner or what career path to take, the important part is letting that plan have freedom to change and work itself out in God’s time.
When we start to make our own plans is when we start to forget that we really have no control over them at all. God’s plan is the only plan. Just knowing that puts me at peace. The weight of the world may feel like it is all on my shoulders but God is holding me the entire time reminding me it’s all going to be okay.
I know, it gets hard when you’ve prayed on something for so long then wonder why it all went wrong. It becomes easy to blame God and be upset that He didn’t answer that one important prayer. God works in mysterious ways and even though His plan may not be visible to us right now, we have to trust that He is doing what is best for us. After all, He already knows exactly what is going to happen.
Letting God do his thing is way easier said than done. I’ve struggled with it for as long as I can remember. Life has happened, bad decisions have happened, loss has happened. I’d be lying if I said I never questioned what God was doing during those times. But, as I look back on it now, I either learned a lesson from it or am now able to see how better off I am because it happened.
Finding that trust is not going to happen over night. Pray on it. Find ways to become closer and closer to Christ (a campus faith group or Bible study are great options if you are in college). Just by living out your faith in your daily routine is a step closer to letting go and letting God.
If you feel like you are walking alone and doubting His plan, remember that God is following right behind you with open arms.
Let Go and Let God.
“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you” Isaiah 43:2
