Let Go And Let God

Letting go will set you free.

The easiest thing to say but the hardest thing to do.

First I want to start off by saying that I’m not a very religious person, yes I believe in God and yes I know right from wrong, but the way I believe is different from the way you believe or even the way my parents or grandparents believe.

Everyone is different and that’s okay, we weren’t made to all be the same.

I try to live my everyday life by the saying “let go and let God”. This means to give your problems to God and trust that everything happens for a reason.

The summer before I started my freshman year of high school, I found out my parents were getting divorced. As soon as this news registered in my brain I made a phone call to someone very close to me, she told me “to let go and let God”.

I had no idea what that meant, nor did I have any intentions on figuring it out. At that point in my life everything was falling apart around me and there was nothing I could’ve done to have stopped the chaos.

Shortly after the divorced happened, deep sadness filled my life. It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I remembered the advice that had been given to me, “let go and let god”. So I did.

Once I fully let go of my sadness and truly believed that in the end I would be okay was when I began to live life again.

This is just the first time in my life that I have given god my problems and let him deal with them.

This is something that I do DAILY.

I refuse to stress about something that is out of my control when the man upstairs longs for us to give him our problems.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

1. Everything happens for a reason

Believe that with all your heart, he will not put you in the fire alone nor will he leave you there.

Sometimes the reason isn’t clear to us and sometimes the reason may never appear as to why something happened, but I’m telling you from experience, that everything does happen for a reason.

2. Trust God

This might be the hardest thing to do. Trusting that everything is going to be okay when it seems like nothing will ever be okay.

I’ve learned that trusting in him is less stressful and way more comforting than worrying your life away with something that you’re not physically or mentally capable of changing.

3. Let go

This is the is easiest thing for me to do, now that is.

It’s so easy for me to pray and ask God to take control of things and not worry about it anymore. This will make your life so much easier.

Let go of your problems and just relax, live your life and whatever happens, happens.

This doesn’t mean to be stupid and make irrational decisions, this just means to take a breather, remember that everything will be fine, and calm down.

When I say calm down I mean CALM DOWN!

Take a chill pill, stop making things into something that they’re not and just relax.

I can truly say that after learning how to “let go and let God” my life has become much simpler in the aspect of worrying about things that are out of my control.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have major anxiety and worry daily but I also give it to God daily.

So let go and let God take over, you won’t regret it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
