Now that my sophomore year of college has come and gone (!!!), I can't help but feel so grateful that I've made it this far. This year was very trying for my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual strength. But even with all the ups and downs, I learned a lot, and I wouldn't trade the lessons I learned for the world:
1. You're not going to have all the same friends from freshman year.
2. But, you will make so many new ones that will change your life.
3. Don't turn down Mexican food. Ever.
4. Sleep is essential to surviving.
5. You're going to consider dropping out almost every single day.
6. But, then you realize you're too high maintenance to ever live in a box.
7. You may never talk to your roommate outside the apartment, and that's okay.
8. Don't ever think going to your 8 a.m. hungover is a good idea, because it's not.
9. There is such a thing as too much coffee.
10. Calling your grandparents will not only make their day, but also yours.
11. You don't need to be perfect.
12. Saying no gets easier the more you do it.
13. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself.
14. Sometimes you've got to be your own mom and take care of yourself.
15. You're not going to get anywhere if all you do is pity yourself.
16. Break out of your comfort zone.
17. Dress well, test well.
18. Trust your body and the way it will continue to change. Don't try and control it.
19. A positive attitude is the difference between a good life and a great life.
20. Your best friends will become your family.
21. Don't be afraid to reach out for help.
22. Going home for breaks is hard. Remember that home is where your dog is.
This is only a small glimpse of what I have learned over the past semester. I can't wait to see what Junior year brings and to see how I will continue grow and change.
