Being a teenager is hard. I certainly fell into a lot of traps that I wish more than anything I had avoided. The older I get, the more words of wisdom I come across that I really wish I had seen when I was struggling the most. Sometimes the best messages come in 140 characters or less.

1. Don't attach your identity to your sadness

It can be really hard when the emptiness is seemingly all you know and so easy to cling to. But damn, it's so true.

2. Don't buy into the patriarchy's shaming and selling of our sexuality

Come on, Sarah.

3. Do feel. Above all else, feel

Feeling so deeply can be a terrible burden and a beautiful gift. And so much of the world will try to shame you for this. Do not listen.

4. Do take a minute to appreciate your inherent strength as a woman

How dare we let the world tell us our resilience is unpalatable? Our resilience is our trademark as women and we deserve to be proud.

5. Don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm

For those of us that are fixers and fight that righting reflex daily, this one is for you.

6. Don't hold yourself responsible for the dysfunction of others

Say it louder for the people in the back and all those who forget.

7. Do remember everything is temporary

Even the worst days only have 24 hours. Take it 24 hours at a time.

8. Do love yourself enough to be alone

There is so much strength and empowerment that comes from being able to be alone.

9. Don't neglect your mental health

Do not neglect your mental health. Trying to fix internal problems with external solutions is exhausting and ineffective.

10. Don't hold yourself back from what makes you feel powerful

Hey, I needed this.

11. Do remember why you started

Always be working on something, even if it's just yourself.

12. Don't shrink yourself for the comfort of others. Especially for the comfort of men

Be more than an idea. Be too much.

13. Do fail

It sucks when it first happens, baby girl, but it's all either a blessing or a lesson.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
