Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most talented actors of this generation. In 1993, Leo was nominated for his first Oscar for best supporting role in the film "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." He has gotten nomination after nomination for leading roles, yet no win. We wait for this year's Oscars on Feb. 28 to see if this is his moment to finally win an Oscar. Let's take a trip down Memory Lane to the Oscar-worthy moments of Leo's career. We're rooting for you, Leo!
1. "Titanic"
DiCaprio's big break was when he starred in the lead role as Jack Dawson in "Titanic." All the girls wanted Leo to draw them like his French girls. The movie received 14 nominations; however, the Academy swerved Leo away from receiving one. Nonetheless, he won every girl's heart that year.
2. "The Aviator"
In 2005, Leo starred in "The Aviator." He was nominated for the first time as a leading Actor, making heads turn. But it wasn't his time, which led to disappointment. This is where the Academy nomination spiral starts.
3. "Blood Diamond"
DiCaprio performed in the highly acclaimed film "Blood Diamond" alongside Djimon Hounsou. Both actors were nominated for an Academy Award. DiCaprio, for leading actor and Hounsou, for best supporting role. Hounsou won that year and we all assumed that Leo was going to win. Well, you know how that ended. We all started wondering if someone from the Academy has something against poor Leo.
4. The 50 Shades of DiCaprio
After "Blood Diamond," Leo demonstrated how dedicated and experimental he can be for challenging roles. He starred in the psychological thrillers, "Inception" and "Shutter Island." And of course, we can't forget his outstanding performance in "Django Unchained." But he didn't receive nominations for any of those great movies.
5. "The Great Gatsby"
Leo proved once again how handsome-looking he can be in the movie remake of "The Great Gatsby," making all girls swoon in his leading role as Jay Gatsby. Also, this film made everyone have some Jack Dawson feels!
6. "The Wolf of Wall Street"
In 2014, the world thought this was Leo's time to shine with an Oscar due to the film "The Wolf of Wall Street," yet it was taken away once again from him by his co-star Matthew McConaughey, who won for the film "Dallas Buyers Club."
7. "The Revenant"
Leo's recent role in "The Revenant" has to be one of the most dedicated roles he has ever prepared himself for. This film made DiCarpio's sixth nomination for Best Actor. He both mentally and physically prepared for the role, going as far as eating raw bison liver (by the way, Leo is a vegetarian), making this his most jaw-dropping and greatest performance of all time.
Even though the Internet will make memes out of him, deep down inside, we all want him to win. We all look at you as a winner in our eyes, Leo. The Internet has your back!
