Your roommate is the one person that is always there, and during the school year you completely forget that there will be a few months where you can’t just scream down the hall to them. You can’t imagine what it will be like to not wake up to them running in your room and jumping on you, or spending a Friday night on the couch splitting a large pizza. Saying goodbye is a process and it comes in stages:

Realizing that summer is soon.

You two are overcome with joy when you realize a three month break from school is around the corner. You have had all year together and you never thought this time would come until you looked at the calendar and saw that summer is right around the corner.

Then realizing you will be states away from each other.

After realizing you'll have to separate, you also remember that you will be hours and hours away from each other.

Overwhelming sadness.

All you can do is stare at each other in sadness. How are you going to survive without each other?

Start planning all the reunions you will have this summer.

You pull out your calendar and start setting dates because you can’t go three months without each other.

Promising to give live life updates.

Since you wont be able to yell down the hall to each other when a big life moment happens, you must keep each other updated constantly by any means possible.

Realizing you have two weeks left.

You realize that summer is still a little but away and you have more time to spend together and the sadness is subdued.

Doing everything you can together.

You two become more attached at the hip than you already were. You start to plan how you can fit in all the things left on your bucket list in the little time left, but you end up hanging out on the couch watching movies and you’re just as happy.

The last week before summer.

You can’t put off reality and sadness much longer. It takes everything in you to start packing because then it’s real that you are about to leave each other.

Saying goodbye.

The dreaded day is here. Saying goodbye and driving away is like a scene out of a sappy movie. Three months will seem like forever, but you are excited for them to have an awesome summer.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
