The first few days of 2018 have absolutely flown by. This time after the holidays before college students return to school can seem mundane and confusing. Once back to school, most students get back into their regular routine and continue to do what they've always done. For most of us, resolutions will be made and broken but that's no so bad. However, here are a few things that we should leave in 2017.
1. Snapchat streaks
Whether or not there is a little flame emoji next to someone's name on an app on your phone should have absolutely no part in the value of the relationship. Losing a Snapchat streak should no longer be something that we get upset about, it's so trivial.
2. Ghosting
Most of us thought this trend would eventually die down but it seems that it stayed strong throughout the entirety of the past year. No more silently fading into the background of someone's life, never to be heard of again. In 2018, grow up and tell someone that you just aren't feeling it.
3. Yelling at the gym
Why do people do this? I understand a bit of strain or focused breathing but sometimes this becomes a full-blown shout. If you have to yell then maybe that weight is too heavy for you.
4. Food judgment
The fact that your assigned lab partner is vegan does not have any effect on you or your life so why worry about it? In the same way, if someone chooses to eat meat they are not automatically a caveman. Finally, if I said I was going on a diet yesterday but I am eating cake today, just let me be. Let people eat what they want.
