Why I'll Never Leave Home Without My Watch

In other news, time is precious.

Why I'll Never Leave Home Without My Watch

I am obsessed with time. I constantly plan my life around how much time I have for things, down to the minute. Next to all my homework assignments written in my agenda, I write down time increments for how long I think that assignment will take me to complete. Time is precious, and it scares me that it is so meaningful yet often so fleeting. Things we may think are forever could disappear in a matter of hours. Each minute and second of every day must be taken advantage of and used for good. For this reason, you will be hard-pressed to find me without a watch.

Let it be known that this isn’t a promise that I’ll be on time to things. It just means that I take into account every minute of every day and try to plan my life by how much time things take as the primary focus. I’ve found that many watch-wearers hold the same view. Time is of great importance, and there’s something about wearing a watch to check the time rather than checking a phone that gives a greater importance to time. Watches express a commitment to time and space and busyness, which are qualities that organized people should have. This being said, though, knowing what time it is doesn't correlate to a good use of time. We should keep track of time in order to make time not only for the things we must do (i.e. school or work), but the things that we should do as good people (spend time with friends/significant other, take some alone time, further our knowledge about the surrounding world).

We often forget how important time is until an event is over. Boring events will feel like they drag on forever, and fun events will fly by quicker than we’d hope. It isn’t until an event is over, though, that we usually go back and see how the time passed (in our opinion). The passage of time is felt differently by each person, even though it is something that cannot be changed by anyone and is one of the most constant things we have in our lives as humans. Humans often think we can alter time and bend it in our favor, but the passage of time is a beautiful and necessary evil; it works in our favor sometimes and other times it doesn’t. Regardless, it can’t be changed. This is why people have regrets: Time keeps going even when we decide upon further thought that something we did wasn't right. It's best to think through every moment and action fully and be able to look back on your time with no regrets, feeling like everything that happened in the past was meant to happen.

The most important thing to recognize is that time is precious. It cannot be replaced, and once it is gone, it can never be revisited. Things that are said cannot be taken back or unremembered. Make good use of your time and remember that what happens in time is written in history forever. You can’t take back what you said and you can’t go back on what you’ve already done, so treat people well at the outset and don't have regrets. If you did something bad in the past, do what you can to remedy it, knowing that you can never undo what happened; look to the future for answers. Respect other people’s time and use your time to better the world around you instead of only focusing on yourself. Your time isn’t any important than anyone else’s. Use your time wisely and wear a watch. And maybe,

maybe try to be on time to things.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
