Power to the Naps
Everyone needs to sleep with it being a basic human function there is not a lot to stop it when we are overly tired. Sure, caffeine does wonders for a long class or even a work day but after the effects wear off crashing is the only thing to do. Naps are a wonderful creation, being able to sleep for a couple of hours out of the day to refresh yourself is one of those life saver creations. Starting at a young age naps are needed to keep going throughout the day. Stopping school activities in order to set aside some time to gain more energy until the end of the day arrived. This type of napping is called Habitual Napping, setting aside time everyday at the same time to take a nap, ranging from small children even to adults who can plan a couple of hours after work to take a quick nap before dealing with the rest of their day.
Another form of napping is called Planned Napping, unlike Habitual Napping where you plan a time each day in order to get a nap in this type of napping is done before you are tired. Planned napping is something that most of us do when we understand that it is going to be a long day or night. Planning when we are going to take a nap in because we know that we will be up past the usual time we go to bed. This type of napping is usually done for older teenagers and adults, as well as a college student’s best friend. With many hours of work that need to be accomplished within the short day there is not always enough time without cutting into the hours that are planned for sleeping. Therefore, this type of napping does wonders for anyone who cannot make it through the day (so most of us).
The last type of napping for everyone is called Emergency Napping. Every human has had days where they have not slept the night before, or even had a very early morning. These types of days can lead to sudden tiredness and with that instant sleep. Now, much like instant rice, there is no more than a five minute waiting period before your head hits the desk while listening to an hour long lecture. These naps cannot be stopped, and although we all have them there is a way to help. Give in.
Napping is a sign from the big man upstairs that you need more sleep than what you are getting throughout the night. Napping for adults is just as acceptable as it is for children and much needed to get through the hard days that we all face. No matter what type of napping occurs throughout your day take it as a sign and enjoy the nap. Do not let anyone take away your naps.
