3 Things I Learned From My Priest About Love

I went to Church this past weekend and in the homily, my parish’s priest started off with the fact that he was going to share a few main points everyone should know about Love. Of course, me being a college student and typical girl who swoons at the thought of love, was instantly intrigued in what he had to share. What he said however was not what I was expecting but is definitely something that I will always keep in the back of my mind. He, and myself, think everyone should be aware of these three points when thinking about those we love in our lifetime.

It’s not a tingly feeling

A good love song is not all about the good times only. When you are in love you don’t just feel a special “tingle” when you are with that person. As he stated multiple times, love is not just a feeling. Love is wanting to fight through hard times and see what you can overcome. It’s making a sacrifice and staying true to any vows you say in your wedding.

It’s not easy

This one is probably one everyone knows. Whether it is loving someone you butt heads with or pushing through when you are frustrated with your spouse. If love was easy it wouldn’t be considered the special thing that it is. He referenced it to Jesus sacrificing for the rest of us. If it were easy then dying for us would not be as meaningful as it was. Love is selfless and takes time to be found and time to be built but it can make people do amazing things.

You can’t just say “I’m done”

Walking away for the sake of what’s best for someone you love is different than giving up and saying “I’m done.” Father Gale touched on the fact that breaking up a relationship because it isn’t what’s best for both people is one thing, but reminding that person you are doing it out of love and that you will still be there when they need you is what love is. If every person gave up and walked away when there were differences could you imagine how broken this world would be? Everyone would lose hope. If Tommy and Bobby disagreed on something and then Bobby took Tommy’s best friend and ruined another friendship and then more hate built up then this world would be headed in the wrong direction rather quickly.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
