I've Learned How To Let Life Unfold Thanks To You, Gram

Gram,

I know that you are probably expecting a card from me in the mail sometime today or sometime this week. Don't you worry, I have a few cards that are ready to be sent out to you. These past few days, I was having a hard time thinking of an article subject, and all of a sudden, I thought of you. I am happy that out of all the things I can write about, you were the person who came to my mind. I know that you are awfully popular but I know for a fact that I will be the first person to ever write an article about you!

Catherine Pulsifer said, "Grandmothers always have time to talk and make you feel special." I think this quote describes you perfectly, you have too many grandchildren to count but you always make each one of us feel loved. All of us can talk to you about just anything, and you are always able to have a full-length conversation about it. Even though you are probably thinking about what is for lunch or dinner during the whole conversation. You defiantly trick us into thinking that you are listening the whole time!

There are so many memories that I have with you, and I treasure every single one of them. Memories like when I ate plastic ice cubes out of your freezer and got severely sick or when you would take Riley and I to Friendly's so we could have ice cream. I will never forget when I watched the movie "Misery" at your house and became paranoid for weeks after. You had seen the movie so many times that you said it wasn't scary at all even though the rest of us were shaking from fear.

Some people say that they were never close with their grandparents or that their grandparents passed away while they were young. I feel so lucky that you have been here for me every day since I was born, and that you are still here today to experience every moment.

Everybody will agree that you have read more books than anybody else will read in a lifetime. People say that reading often can increase your memory which you have proved to be true. It amazes me that somebody can show you a book cover and you can tell them exactly when you read it. It seems nearly impossible for somebody to trick you into reading the same book twice. I hope that one day, I will read as much as you and that I will be able to describe books as in depth as you do.

You amaze me, along with everybody else in our family. You have been through so much but still, wake up each morning with a smile on your face. It seems as if you are not worried about what has happened, but instead you are looking forward to seeing what can happen.

Photographs of you or videos of you singing "Take me out to the ballgame," make me realize how lucky I am to have you as a grandmother. You are my closest friend and a role model to me. I have learned to let life unfold thanks to you.

I love you Gram.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
