If it won't matter in a week, it's not worth getting mad over.

They say you learn something new every day. Learning something new every day for 365 days becomes quite a lot, but each year there seems to be a theme to the things you learn. Evidently, the theme changes all the time because you simply cannot learn the same thing twice.

1. Nothing lasts forever. Be grateful.

This can feel like a good thing and a bad thing. Either way, be grateful for what you have at the moment because no matter what happens, you come out stronger.

2. No one thinks like you do

Put yourself in someone else's shoes when thinking about a situation. Only you have the thought processes that you do, so you can't expect everyone else to understand.

3. You cannot control what happens to you

You just can't. Be prepared for the unexpected just in case.

4. Be open to new experiences

This one is super important. Don't close yourself off to gaining new knowledge about the world around you. You never know what the turnout will be and that's the most exciting part.

5. Please and thank you go a long way

All the time. No exception. It's just the polite thing to do, and you would think it'd be common courtesy.

6. Nothing is ever as it seems

That being said, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is. Take everything with a grain of salt until an underlying truth presents itself.

7. If it won't matter in a week, it's not worth getting mad over

Sure you can get frustrated about things, just don't get into a tizzy over it. Expending that much negative energy into the physical world is not only exhausting but also just not worth it.

8. If people want to walk out of your life, let them

Kind of like "if you love something, let it go." It's not worth it to try and keep someone around who doesn't find themselves appreciative to know you. They're probably too toxic for you anyways.

9. Listen to as much music as you can

Music elevates us to higher vibrations. Along with math, it is the universal language. There is so much of it to listen to too.

10. Everyone has their vices

Everyone does. Sometimes you see it, sometimes you don't.

11. There's nothing that hugging your pet can't fix

Truly nothing. They just give such good energy and remind you that you're not alone.

12. Don't be the first one to let out of a hug

Let it last as long as you can. You never know, the other person may need it more than you do.

13. Check up on your friends from time to time

Some friends go weeks, even months without talking to each other. It's the beauty of the strength of that bond. But, it doesn't hurt to reach out first every once in awhile.

14. There is beauty all around us, gawk at it

Nature, music, architecture, people, food etc. All here for you to enjoy. do so.

15. Say what you mean, mean what you say

It's just the right thing to do. Words are powerful. With great power, comes great responsibility.

16. Nobody's family is perfect

Even if they seem like they are. All families have skeletons in their closet, some are just better at hiding it than others.

17. Never take your phone out while eating

UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Especially in public company. It's just rude. Food is communion, so commune with those around you. Your phone can wait.

18. Play in the dirt, it builds character

And helps your immune system.

19. Life is short, enjoy it while you're young

Be smart about it. Know your limits and trust your gut. At the same time, do and experience all that you can. You're never promised tomorrow so live like that today.

As I grow older, my life has seemed to work the same way. 19 years of life truly is not that much, yet, I feel as though I have attained some sort of wisdom for it. Everyone's life unfolds differently, but there are just some things everyone should know collectively. It is these lessons that give me guidance as I move forward with my life, even in times of distress.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
