This is pretty much self-explanatory. I decided to go to cosmetology school, and these are some of the things I have learned so far. These are just assumptions, and what I have figured out so far. First impressions are not everything, so I could completely misjudge this. Everyone has a different experience, so this is just what I have learned.
1. It’s nothing like college.
Okay but really this was me in college.
I showed up thinking I would have to take home homework and study all the time. Boy, I was wrong.
2. Punctuality apparently doesn’t matter. Being early is way too early, being on time is early, and being late is on time.
If the instructor is late, then
3. They’re strict about somethings, but others they could not care less about. Good luck figuring out what to take seriously and what you don’t have to.
I rushed through lunch the first day because they said we had only 30 minutes to eat and be back in the classroom. So this was me.
The instructor ended up taking an hour and 15-minute lunch break.
4. Graduation depends on your hours, so the faster you get hours the sooner you’ll graduate.
Literally me because I want to get my life started already.
5. If someone wants you to go get Starbucks, don’t. It’s not like high school when a director or coach lets you go get food. You have to clock out which means graduating slower (refer to number 4.)
6. Most of the time will just be free time, so you get to work on dying hair pink or giving a mannequin a mohawk. Almost everyone spends the time pamper themselves.
I just had to throw this in since everyone associates beauty salons with this iconic scene.
In all honesty, going to cosmetology school is the best thing I could have ever done. I am actually having so much fun, and I feel like I finally belong somewhere.
