The Real Answer To The Question: Do I Need A Lawyer For My Child Custody Dispute?

Most people who find themselves in a child custody dispute never thought they'd be in such a difficult situation. It is tempting to try to save money by trying to work out a child custody agreement with the other party on your own. However, there are several reasons why it is important to hire a Child Custody Lawyer.

Child custody disputes are intense and emotional. Each parent has their child's best interest in mind. During times of intense emotion, it is extremely helpful to have a lawyer representing you. Even if you have a good relationship with the other party, issues can arise.

Your lawyer will be able to help you navigate through the process without any emotion clouding his or her thoughts. A child custody lawyer will make sure paperwork is filed appropriately and deadlines are kept. They will work hard to get you the best possible outcome, while keeping your child's best interests in mind.

Lawyers have the benefit of understanding the law in your state. Custody laws are complex. It is difficult for the average person to learn all the details of child custody laws and approaches to take in working out a child custody agreement.

Lawyers ensure your case is done correctly. Using a lawyer usually results in a better outcome.

Certain circumstances can make custody disputes more complex. If you and the other party live in different jurisdictions, the process becomes more complicated. If one party is moving out of state, you may be concerned how to create a fair agreement. A lawyer can help you navigate the process of coming to an agreement on physical and legal custody.

Child custody disputes can also be complicated by the adults' circumstances. Sometimes, one party has remarried or is in a new relationship. The anger between former partners can affect their ability to compromise.

A lawyer will have experience in handling these types of cases. It can ease your emotional burden by limiting the amount of contact you have to have with your former partner.

Sometimes, concern for the child's safety is involved. If there is a history of abuse or neglect you definitely need a lawyer to present your case. Your lawyer can also advise you on how to get a restraining order if it is necessary.

If you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse, you may have court mandated classes or treatment. Prior drug and alcohol abuse can be a strike against you. A lawyer can present your case in the best way possible.

Sometimes, parents find that a long-standing custody agreement is no longer working. The other parent or guardian may not be following through on the days and times they are to have the child.

Perhaps, the other party is preventing you from seeing your child as much as your child custody agreement allows. New concerns regarding the child's environment or supervision may arise.

As your child gets older, they may have strong feelings about where they spend their time. If renegotiating an existing custody agreement is needed, a lawyer can help you with this process as well.

Few things in a person's life are as important as their children. You want to make sure you have done everything possible to resolve a child custody dispute fairly. Trying to negotiate a custody agreement is stressful emotionally. Having a lawyer with you in court to argue your case will help you achieve the best possible resolution.

Hiring a lawyer isn't being mean or petty. Hiring an expert is a wise decision under any circumstance. When children are involved, hiring an expert, a lawyer, is definitely the best decision you can make.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
