22 Thoughts From The Last Person On Earth To Visit The Happiest Place On Earth

When I was growing up, my family was never big on going to theme parks. Up until New Year's Eve, I'm pretty sure I was one of the last people over ten years old that had never been to Disneyland, Disney World, or any Disney Resort. Over this past winter break, my best friend and her family took me with them to Disneyland (that's the one in Southern California) — and it was an experience, to say the least.

While I was skeptical at first, I would like to thank Maddie and the Butlers again for taking me with them because I had an amazing time. It'll probably be awhile before I can handle being as constantly happy and excited as I was on that trip though.

So here are just a handful of my thoughts during my one and a half day visit, where we spent a total of 25 hours in the park itself.

1. Oh my God, it's huge.

2. Wait this is only half of it?

3. Even the map is huge.

4. We're gonna ride all of these rides in two days?

5. Alright, let's see what about this place makes it the Happiest Place on Earth.

6. I can't believe people are waiting in line for three hours for one ride.

7. It costs HOW much for a water bottle?

8. Aww, look, a bucket of plush Porgs.

9. Did the entire population of California decide to go to Disney today?

10. Ohmygod, there's Minnie — how do I look?

11. I never realized how many foods can be shaped like Mickey Mouse.

12. And inanimate objects.

13. Whoever gets to come up with all of the designs for these mouse ears/hats has a great life.

14. I have never seen so many children on leashes in my life.

15. New favorite quote: "This is the happiest place on Earth, don't make me slap you."

16. The people who work here are my heroes — there is no way you could pay me to deal with this many people.

17. Oh, look — that 3-hour wait ride just went down to 5 minutes. That's weird.

18. Ah right, that's because it's a raft ride that soaks you and it's 40ºF at night here. Brrr.

19. Whoever thought to add scents to these virtual reality rides — nice one.

20. My feet hurt. Taking bets on how many blisters I have.

21. All of the animated characters look scary real... I can't tell if I'm more impressed or terrified.

22. So...we're doing the other half of the park tomorrow? Bring it on.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
