5 Last-Minute Gifts Your Family And Friends Actually Want This Holiday Season

All I want for Christmas is to be done with my last minute holiday shopping!

'Twas the Saturday before Christmas (or Hanukkah) and all through the house... there were no presents because you've been too busy to buy them. If this sounds like your current situation, no need to worry because I can assure you that you are not alone.

The holiday season is not only monetarily stressful, but a lot of people are still at work up until the literal day of Christmas and students are coming off of finals and a stressful semester. So, to help everyone out this holiday season here's a short list of a few gift ideas for any hard to shop for people or last-minute presents.

1. Subscription service.

From a TV streaming service to a subscription for something as silly as meat (yes, it exists. I looked it up), a year of a subscription could be a really cool gift. Thinking about how much you're gifting, it honestly isn't even really all that expensive and it can be a very personalized gift if you choose to think about what the other person likes. The best part about this gift too is you can start a subscription at any time, making it the perfect last-second gift.

2. Echo Dot.

The Echo Dot is everywhere now and they retail for about $25 on Amazon Prime. Their function is well worth the price as it is basically a mini Alexa that can attach to your home devices, act as your alarm clock, or even work as a speaker. In the hustle and bustle of the busiest season of the year, don't stress yourself out and ask Alexa to “buy an echo dot” as a last-minute gift for even the hardest person to shop for on your list. They even have some new and cool colors.

3. Hometown/childhood mementos.

There's this super cool company called Homesick that sells candles with names and scents based on destinations. When I found out about this company, I was honestly really interested and it inspired my idea to get something from their hometown as a gift. With the decade ending, everyone is being super sentimental this year, so now is the perfect time for hometown mementos. I know there's little things that define every hometown, so even if they don't sell a Homesick candle in honor of the specific place you are looking for, think about potentially a t-shirt, or something that helps them remember their childhood. If you're looking for a last-minute fix, check amazon for a Homesick candle or maybe buy them a piece of swag to help them rep their home team. You could also probably get them something homemade, as homemade things often remind people of crafts from their childhood, even if it's super nice and professional looking.

4. A bottle of wine/liquor.

If you are of age, this can be a perfect last-minute gift- and I mean, last-minute like on your way to the gift exchange. There's no better way to show someone you care like bringing them their favorite bottle of something and major brownie points if you happen to know offhand what their fave is. Please purchase, gift, and enjoy responsibly.

5. Money/a gift card.

This is a safe bet for anyone on your list and is another on-your-way-to-the-party gift, but for all ages. Throw your cash or a Visa gift card in a signed holiday card and bam, gift taken care of. This one is perfect if you run out of time, and extra perfect if you run out of time because you have no idea what to get that person. The best part about a gift card or some cash is that it can be applicable to any person ever and can be personalized if you know what stores they like, in terms of gift cards anyway.

Happy last-minute shopping and Happy Holidays everyone!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
