The Las Vegas strip was roughly-crowded on June 20. A large group of people gathered on Las Vegas Blvd to support show unity for the victims in Orlando, Fla.
Approximately, 2,000 people marched south of Las Vegas popular street. It began at the Fashion Show mall, on the boulevard and Spring Mountain Rd, proceeded towards to The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas off of Harmon Ave.
Many gathered wearing white, holding signs and gay pride flags and other accessories.
Someone organized a Facebook event called "We Stand with the Orlando Community," leading to this huge gathering. The Las Vegas weather has been in the triple digits of hot heat. The Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and The Cosmopolitan Hotel were passing waters showing support to the cause.
The collective was to remember the 50 people who were shot and another 53 injured at an Orlando gay club on June 12. The shooter was a man named Omar Mateen who opened fire to the attendees.
Mateen self-protest he was an Islamic terrorist and was a suspect with the Federal Bureau Investigations from that past years.Omar Mateen was gunned down by the police, which eventually ended the shooting.
There has been so much collectively, honoring these victims.After the shootings, thousands of people gathered to blood service centers and supported fund raisers. According to CNN, the Equality Florida, the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender advocacy group in Florida, reaching their goal of $500,000 was met, increased to $2.5 million.
This incident has also furthered investigations with terrorism and gun control. The shootings were hate crimes and affecting peoples’ human rights.Debates on gun control on Capitol Hill.Republic Senator Susan Collins made the proposal for Congress to ban firearms sales to people being monitored for links to terrorism.
Before the Orlando shootings, the gun control efforts had failed from other major shootings like the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012 and in San Bernardino, California, last year.
As gun control still being disincentive, people across Southern Nevada, Orlando and across country and social media united together with solidarity and brought impact on gun control and how much few politicians sided for reformation.
There is a large amount of compassion and love with the LGBT community, convincing the society can be acceptable with this amount diversity.
