Happy 2018, ladies!
We're officially two weeks into the new year. I don't know about y'all, but I already feel as though it's going to be one for the books. I mean, did y'all see Oprah's Golden Globes speech? What an inspiring and enriching way to embark on this year's journey.
ICYMI: Women are rising up all over the world and proving that we deserve to be celebrated, noticed, and respected. It's long overdue, but I am ecstatic to be a part of this cultural and historical shift.
However, if we expect to be celebrated, noticed, and respected by those around us, we must celebrate, notice, and respect ourselves as well.
So, I challenge all women to participate in #SelfCareSunday.
I challenge women to designate at least an hour, every Sunday, no matter what, to themselves. Or if your schedule allows it, designate the whole freakin' day.
But if you're like me and you're life never seems to slow down, promise yourself TODAY that you will do at least one positive thing for yourself every Sunday. Go eat at your favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Drink your favorite cup of coffee. Buy that dress you've been wanting. Shave your legs. Lay in bed all day and watch your favorite cheesy sitcom. Buy a super expensive face mask and use it.
DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.
Finding time for yourself can be difficult, but utilizing Sunday's are a great way to accomplish just that. Do you think Sunday marks the end of the week? The beginning of the week? Who cares! Make it work for you. Relax. Reflect. Look forward. Treat yo self.
Once you learn how to adjust yourself to allocating time and attention for yourself every Sunday, start doing it every single day. If you're already doing that, YOU GO GIRL.
Trust me when I say a little self-care goes a long way. It completely changes your perspective, your relationships, and your determination. It makes you happier and more honest with yourself and the people around you.
So...
Pay attention to yourself. Love yourself. Embrace yourself. Make time for yourself. Remember, you are worthy and people around you will think the same if YOU think the same.
I'll leave my fellow ladies with this quote:
“Be you, love you. All ways, always.” ― Alexandra Elle
