Communication is key in every aspect of life and when you don't have it, you don't have much. As many people know, I'm a communication major. But that's not why I'm saying this. I'm saying this because it's true.
How many times a day do you reply to a text message? Or call your mom to ask her a question? What about small talk with the cashier at the mall? That's all communication and if we didn't have it, the world would be silent.
The internet wouldn't exist. We wouldn't have Twitter or Facebook or even regular books for that matter. The world wouldn't be able to function, and we would have nothing.
Do you see where I'm going with this? People suck at talking to one another.
Not only do personal relationships end and conflicts happen between individual people but wars start over miscommunication. People die over miscommunication. Everyday miscommunication happens and there are major consequences for it.
We're living in a world where it's easier to argue than it is to understand one another. No one takes the time to listen to the other side and instead deems everyone that doesn't agree with them as wrong.
That mentality is what is wrong.
It's wrong to assume you know everything. It's wrong to not allow others to voice their opinions. It's wrong to have such bad communication skills that everyone suffers for it.
Take the time to talk to one another and actually listen because communication isn't one-sided. Maybe you'll gain insight rather than start a problem.
Wouldn't that be a miracle.
