Some may love them and some may disagree with their lifestyles but the Kardashian family has been "that" family in entertainment who is consistently in the spotlight. On February 1st, Kylie Jenner finally came out of hiding and revealed that she gave birth to her baby girl, Stormi. Following Kylie's reveal, she added an Instagram post that allowed fans to see that she wanted to keep her pregnancy private and spend time with her loved ones.
Most people were shocked that there were not any publicity stunts after the pregnancy rumors because the Kardashian's often utilizes the media in order to generate buzz for their brand; sometimes in a way that sways all audiences. Kylie also posted a documentary of her pregnancy journey. It wasn't anything super fancy, it had a home video vibe--a great touch that added to the authenticity that some people didn't think the Kardashian's had.
In the video, you're able to see Kylie Jenner chillin' with her friends, enjoying life without a camera in sight. We, the public, don't see this often. Yes, their lives have been filmed on E! News for years, but everyone knows that some elements in reality television are often "scripted" for ratings. With this video, we saw more. It wasn't just "public figure" Kylie, she gave us the real, this is me in my element, Kylie. At least this is what the clear purpose of this video was for; to allow the public to view her in a new way.
One big problem that most celebrities have in the media is knowing how to be real without making it seem as if their publicist encouraged them to do something that will "break the internet". Some of those strategies don't always work, especially if they're outdated or repetitive--an act can only stay hot for so long.
Now that Kylie is a mother, it's going to be interesting to see how she presents herself to the media. I'm glad she went on a hiatus with social media and actually prepared and centered herself around great energy during her pregnancy because it builds character. Transitioning from being in the spotlight to being more lowkey definitely takes patience and discipline, especially if people argue that you post content for "attention" when maybe that's just how you are--but who knows? I'm feeling a new approach from Kylie, and I hope it's sincere because this will definitely boost her image for being more relatable and not forced.
I'm glad that Kylie was able to have a special pregnancy and that she has been blessed with Stormi. It's a new chapter, with a focus, hopefully, that starts to reflect in Kylie's image.
