People Need To Realize That There Are More Important Things To Worry About Than Kylie And Her Baby

I never thought I’d have to write an article about Kylie Jenner in my life, but today is the day. As many of you know, Kylie Jenner had a kid. I understand that writing about it publicizes it more, but it needs to be talked about. In this day and age, too many people care about something like this instead of caring about more important topics. I went on social media, and it was all over my timeline. Hundreds of posts talking about how happy they are that someone they don’t know had a child.

It even got to the point where CNN, a political news station, was tweeting about the child. While it is an awesome thing for someone to bring a child into this world, it is not acceptable for society to care so much about something that means so little.

I can give you thousands of different events that need to be looked at more than this. Take, for instance, modern day slavery. Many of you love chocolate, but do you ever wonder where your chocolate actually comes from? Most chocolate comes from Western Africa, or Ghana and the Ivory Coast. In these areas, human trafficking, and child slavery are used to produce and move chocolate.

Many companies acknowledge that this is a problem, but it’s never publicized. I pose the question, why? Why is no one ever talking about things like this? I have seen posts of people crying about a baby that will never mean anything to them. I actually laugh that this story got so much attention because it perfectly sums up our society.

I can see the headlines now: “Kylie baby is more talked about than Trump scandal.”

Does that sentence not make anyone cringe? I literally shake knowing that more people care about Kylie than the corrupt leader of our country.

In other news, the Winter Olympics have started, and apparently, people are too busy keeping up with the Kardashians to even notice! How could I forget, there is also a war going on in Syria that seems to not be noticed. While the Syrian “government” gasses their own people, we sit here dreaming about Kylie Jenner in our bubble.

Another thing that we should all talk about is the stock market. Have you seen the past week of trading? Up and down, up and down. What if it goes down and stays down? Jeez, I don’t think I’m ready to see this country go through another one of those.

If I seem agitated, it’s because I am. I put too much hope in society to do the right thing, and get let down far too often. The front page on Yahoo news is about some “expert” weighing in on Kylie’s decision to name her kid something weird. What are you an expert in? Baby names? The Jenners? Like it’s actually ridiculous.

I’m sorry to the people that get offended by this article, but you really need to realize that there are much bigger problems that we choose not to care about. The purpose of this article was to raise awareness for actual stories in this world, and I believe that I’ve done my job. Wake up people, at the end of the day, baby Jenner will never affect your life, so start caring about what does affect you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
