Ariana Grande is on a roll lately. Her success is truly undeniable. With hit after hit, she is showing no signs of slowing down. Not only has she overcome endless struggles and heartbreak, but she does so with class and dignity, and busts out tunes perfect to jam to. And her last hit, "Thank U, Next" is no different. The recently released music video is an instant classic, spoofing "Mean Girls," "Bring It On," "13 Going On 30," and "Legally Blonde." And while one might say Ari is the star of the video, they are mistaken. The true star is none other than the Kardashian matriarch, Kris Jenner.
Yes, Kris Jenner.
At this point, I would like to interject and make a quick announcement. If you have yet to watch this genius video, I give you permission to stop reading further and watch the video before continuing. You'll thank me.
Just when you think the "Mean Girls" portion of the video can't possibly get better, the camera cuts away from Regina Ariana and the Plastics going their "Jingle Bell Rock" routine to the one and only Kris Jenner holding a video camera, being the ultimate cool mom. Not only does this moment take you completely off-guard, but it's just so incredibly funny because it's very accurate for Kris Jenner.
We all know that woman would be the first one to bust out that video camera and know all the sexy dance moves to one of her daughters' provocative dances. Kris embodies Amy Poehler's character. You'll be dying as she pushes her way through the row to perform herself in the aisle as the girls do their thing on stage.
The fact that they got Kris to do this video makes it all the more amazing. We all know the Kardashians will do anything to make a buck, and I'm not going to lie, they are not my favorite people. But you can't help but admire Kris because she is pretty fabulous. She pokes fun at herself and recognizes that she is the cool mom from "Mean Girls," but even cooler.
And just when you think Kris Jenner could not make this video any better, the camera cuts to black as the last note finishes and opens up on Kris in the audience with her camera. She mutters four simple worlds that are sure to be an instant classic, "thank you, next bitch."
True words of wisdom spoken by one of the ultimate lady bosses around.
So if you have yet to be graced with the beauty of Ariana Grande's latest music video, you need to watch it. Not only does it combine the best chick flicks of the last 15 years, but it's just really, really good. And if that is not enough for you, watch it for the true highlight, the queen Kris Jenner.
And if you don't want to, well I just have three words for you.
Thank u, next.
