Knowing Your Own Worth Is An Essential Thing In A Biased Industry

Why is it that vanity surpasses skill? Why does having integrity and morals a bad thing in a biased industry at first glance? It's a stereotype that needs to be erased because it is not what it seems. A biased industry is an industry full of stereotypes that may or may not be true. Why sell your soul and become someone you're not when you can be genuine and reach more people? I've seen people work harder and with all their passion become more successful as individuals than not. I want to be able to work in a biased industry and not sell my soul. Some can handle it and some can't. Its great knowing your worth because in the end you come out a stronger person.

I've seen people sell their soul to make an extra dollar on their pay. We see people doing favors that aren't considered moral in order to achieve their status, but in the end we see them suffer because of all the dark karma collecting inside. We hear the stories of those who end up collecting all the benefits but aren't truly happy. Having integrity and a defined set of morals (yes, its harder work) ends up having more benefits than not. When upholding your beliefs it takes a lot of strength. You are not those who work with you. Money (or benefits) is the second of the top ten reasons why Divorce occurs. Do you want to lose your best friend because your head is where the benefits are?

In Psychology Today, we associate genuine people with positive things. So why would those in biased industries put on a front when most people want genuine? It has been shown that people can't tell the difference between people who put on a front to those who are truly genuine. A "fake" person can be the most liked person around you at work. He/she shows that they are willing to do anything and sometimes are closer to those who have power. Logically its great to have people with power beside you in life, but to alienate those who are your equals or lower can hurt you more than cure you.

I have friends in biased industries that have worked their butts off to achieve their dreams. A biased industry is an industry that tends to follow the stereotypes surrounding it. Entertainment is considered to be a biased industry. Journalism is a biased industry. I think you catch the point. One of my friends who is a filmmaker went from having two support jobs to having none and is now working full time as a freelance filmmaker. This only took him a couple of years. My closest friend Angelo Bash is an actor who has been in the business for a couple years now but is now being cast in things that give him actor's credit. If you want to survive in a biased industry, you are going to have to work hard and protect yourself. Selling your soul is never the answer.

Stereotypes are a big thing in biased industries. We've said that it's better to be genuine than to be fake. It is a stereotype to be fake and obsessed with yourself in a biased industry. It is also a stereotype that one will stop at nothing to achieve supreme status in whatever industry they are in.There are a few black sheep that make the stereotypes true but not all adhere to the stereotypes.

Knowing your worth and being genuine should be the highest priority when going into a biased industry. Those who tend to fall out of the higher path tend to end up being less happy and alone in the end. I've seen more success with those who worked harder and pursued their dreams with passion and morals than not. This is why you need to know your worth because you come out a stronger person. I want everyone who dreams to be in one of the biased industries to never lose themselves and always be humble.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
