This year's Miami Heat team definitely had a rough start to the season. Numerous injuries and COVID protocols sidelined many of the team's star players at one time or another. As a result, they, for the longest time was ranked among the bottom of league. Many people, analysts and fans alike, started to claim that the Miami Heat's magnificent title run in the previous season was actually a fluke.
However, this relentless Miami Heat team have begun to prove the doubters wrong, They have won three straight games against the Sacramento Kings, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and even the title-contending Los Angeles Lakers.
The Miami Heat have much of their core intact now and it has shown in their game to game performance. The return of Jimmy Butler has greatly improved the team's chemistry and efficiency on the court. Butler also allows for the team to have a reliable option to keep the team afloat during any given point in a game. Jimmy Butler is a multifaceted player that kind shoot practically from any point in the court, as well as being an amazing defender that can guard any players, even the likes of the top players of the league, like Lebron James.
The Miami Heat also has the young face of their franchise in Bam Adebayo. Adebayo took another leap this year, averaging 19.6 PPG. Adebayo has a tremendous defensive ability. One of the defining moments of Adebayo this season was when he had a clutch block on Lebron James. What makes this all so much more amazing is that Adebayo is extremely young, being only 23 years old.
The Miami Heat still has tremendous ability and potential for this season. Much of their young core in Duncan Robinson, Tyler Herro, and Kendrick Nunn is still intact, as well as their veterans like Goran Dragic and Andre Iguodala are still playing at an elite level. Their two major free-agent acquisitions in Avery Bradley and Maurice Harkless have also not had serious minutes and playing time yet.
In a highly competitive Eastern Conference, the Heat still has tremendous opportunity to bounce back and retake their place atop the Conference and return to the NBA Finals.
