It's really easy to take the way strangers treat us personally, so why not make it something nice? There is also great value in realizing that we do not know everyone's story. Maybe your barista wasn't as friendly as you like, but you have no idea what's going on in their life.

Treat others the way you want to be treated; treat a stranger with kindness and grace today, it might just change the game for both of you.

1. Smile

Just offering a stranger a genuine smile can brighten their day. Smiling is so easy and will make you feel better too!

2. Hold the door

Holding the door is such an underrated act of kindness. I so greatly appreciate it when someone holds the door for me, whether I know them or not. And I know that if I didn't hold the door for others I would feel guilty the rest of the day.

Just the other day a stranger was holding the door for me and my friends so we began to jog and she said, "Oh, you don't have to do that I'm not that type of person". Just knowing they weren't going to hold the door only if we walked fast enough was comforting.

3. Compliment them!

Personally, when a stranger compliments something I'm wearing, I remember every time I wear it. It gives me a major confidence boost. Let's instill confidence in all our favorite strangers!

4. Ask them a question

If you're in a setting with a stranger or strangers in which it's not creepy to small talk, ask them about their day or use a little ice breaker. It's important to show genuine interest and respect when doing this.

5. Make them laugh

You know what they say: "laughter is the best medicine". Maybe that stranger is having a bad day, treat it with a joke! Make them laugh; it might just turn their day around.

These are obviously just a few simple ways to brighten someone's day. There are so many kind gestures and silly things you can do that might make a stranger chuckle, smile, or just feel better. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows, so it's important to take care of each other by making the world as sunshine-y as we can.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
