ATTENTION: All Female pre-med, pre-law, farm hands, cowgirls, pastors, CEO's, bankers, mechanics, architects, and any other girl poking her fine featured head out into what can be and used to be considered a "man's job". This one's for you.
Dear Rosie the Riveter 2016,
GURL, look at you go. Life gets a little rough out there when your'e working hard to get to the top, but your'e killin it.
I would like to start off by saying that I myself am not a feminist, but I do believe my genitalia has nothing to do with the way I work. Gender roles have changed a little bit in the last 50 years, but there has always been women out there working just as hard as men. Regardless of what anyone says, you deserve to be more than just a housewife.
As mentioned above, gender roles have changed, but that does not mean there won't be doubters. Your'e going to be criticized a lot, and unfortunately sexualized even more. As the "weaker" sex, us ladies have a lot to prove if we want to be at the top. And your'e thinking "that's not fair, we should be equal no matter what?" You are correct. We should be but we are not, and there is little we can do about that
My advice to you:
Follow your freaking dreams kids. Do what it takes, study hard, work hard. Your vagina does not mean you cannot succeed.
Blend in. Don't make a big deal out of the fact that your'e female and nobody else probably will. (Reasons why I personally am not a feminist.)
Don't go for their approval. Go for their skill level. Make you better.
Your'e amazing and smart, you are the future.
Sincerely,
One of the guys.
