Hey there,
So it is no news that you are getting married in a couple of weeks. I couldn’t be more excited even if I tried. Getting to stand by you on the day that begins the rest of your life is an honor and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
When you left for college, it was no secret that I was just a little excited to have you going to school more than just an hour or two away, but then it hit me like a ton of bricks, you were no longer in the room next to me. You were no longer there to sing Taylor Swift songs with me on the way to school… or to pay for my frozen yogurt. You started this new chapter of your life while I was left behind. I had to stay and watch you live your life from afar and only talked to you a couple of times a week. But no matter how sad I was about any of it, I wouldn’t change it for the world. With you gone, our relationship grew into something that 15-year-old me would never have dreamt to have with you. I remember the first time I came to visit wasn’t until we were moving you into the Phi Mu house your sophomore year and that weekend was one of the best memories I have… maybe. We laughed until it hurt, you showed me around all of your favorite places, and we got to eat a lot of good food. That was the moment I finally realized, you weren’t only my sister, but my best friend.
Over the next couple of years, we made things work. We would talk on the phone or text more regularly. I even came for a weekend before I started college just to see you before my next chapter started. The late nights of Gilmore Girls and sitting on your kitchen floor eating dinner while singing “Beautiful Girls” by Sean Kingston still makes me laugh- okay this is my best memory. You may not have known it then, or even now, but you have always been the best role model anybody could ever ask for. Even when you didn’t have all your crap together, you never let anybody see that. You are a strong and independent person who I aspire to be like.
No matter what happens in life and no matter what we have to go through, I promise always to be there for you whenever you need me, even if it is to hold your hand while you have to get blood drawn. You have seen me at my best and worst- with pictures to prove it- and for that, thank you. You are my sister, role model, and best friend. You mean more to me than you will ever know. No matter how old we get or what happens in life, always remember one thing, “KIDS RULE KIDS RULE KIDS RULE!” Love ya long time!
XOXO,
Your Annoying Little Sister
