On Saturday, September 29th, Mississippi State faced what could be considered one of their greatest football upsets.
After a loss to Kentucky and then a loss to not just Florida, but a head coach that actually did abandoned our team many fans questioned Nick Fitzgerald's ability to lead the team. Many seriously doubted our team overall, but can you blame them?
But this isn't about Nick Fitzgerald, because he has all the yards he needs to break a record and odds are he won't get drafted after the stunts he's pulled during his time at Mississippi State.
This is for Keytaon, the quarterback I support fully because he has the potential to be one of the greats. He is a leader, he is kind, and overall he's just a good quarterback.
So Keytaon, from someone who wants you to be on the field, transfer.
You are not and will not get the playing time you deserve at Mississippi State, because here it's a numbers game. You deserve to be leading a team and I promise you that if you go somewhere else you will be.
You are so much more than just a "backup quarterback" and everyone knows that. Other schools have seen you pull through in the Egg Bowl, Tax Slayer Bowl, and a huge win against SFA. Keytaon, your stats speak for themselves, you should not be second string, you should be starting. You should not be someone they just pull in when they want to do a cool play or we're ahead by 60.
You have all that you need here at Mississippi State -- quality coaches, amazing facilities, and a great fan base, but that doesn't get you playing time. It doesn't get you a career in football I am sure you have been dreaming of for years.
The chances of you playing again this year have gone up now that Nick has all the numbers he needs, but that doesn't mean you'll actually get to start for a whole game. Or even be put in for more than 3 plays. All this means is that you might actually get on the field more than just running out with the team.
We have all gotten our hopes up for a quality quarterback that will start and end a game well. A quarterback who doesn't have to "shake" off nerves for the entire first quarter.
From all of your supporters, please go somewhere that will appreciate you and truly let you shine. We want you at Mississippi State, but more than that we want you somewhere that you can be successful and that is not here.
