The older you get the more problems you’ll have but with a good head on your shoulders, you will make it through them.

Happy Birthday to the kid who found the key to life early on: not caring what other people think.

This is to somebody who was the smart kid in school and was into science experiments and facts as a child. The kid who was easily able to get straight A’s and may have been called a nerd at least once in his life. At first, it used to bother them but early on they found out they just don’t care…

You found out the key to be happy is not caring what other people think of them and focusing on their studies. I say keep up the good work! You are incredibly smart and have a good grasp on reality. Your focus is your dream and who you want to be which should always be your focus. Being driven and concentrated now are great traits to have for the long run.

The older you get the more problems you’ll have but with a good head on your shoulders, you will make it through them. There will always be people who talk or may not like you for who knows what reason but you know who you are and that’s all that matters. To be honest, it doesn’t matter what they think because if you focus on your studies you are going to be the one that is successful. Next year you will be in high school but you are already sure of who you are and who you want to be. So, don’t worry you are doing fine!

As you move on with your life remember three things!

Never give up: Do not give up on the dreams you have even if you feel like the bar is set high but know it is okay to fail. Any failure will carry a big weight on you but always remember that just because you fail at something doesn’t mean you are a failure. It doesn’t matter what mistakes we make its how we fix them. It is how we pick ourselves up again that matters.

Work Ethic: You haven’t had a job yet but you already have a good work ethic. It is important to keep that up, never back down from something because it is a lot of work. If you chose a major that is a lot of work but you know it’s what you want, then work for it. All that work will be worth it in the end.

You Are Strong: Your life hasn’t come easy and it has taught you to be independent. You have worked hard and found it fun to learn something new. You have learned to be caring but also to stop caring about what people think of you. Your grasp on life and the histories of it is incredible. You have a strong brain and a strong heart. If life ever gets you down always remember how strong you are and that everything is going to be alright.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
