Kesha.
Kesha, Kesha, Kesha.
There is so much I want to say to you.
First off, I can honestly tell you about all the times I would dance around to "Tik Tok" whenever it would come on the radio, or even tried doing my makeup like yours. (In which I would end up looking like a raccoon instead)
Through the years, you have released a few songs that have definitely become some of my all time favorites. Such as "We R Who We R", "The Harold Song" and your latest single, "Praying."
I have always loved your crazy style and your catchy songs, but in recent years, you have shown the world a side of you that shows people you are so much more.
When your legal battle with music producer Dr. Luke began a few years ago, you showed your fans and the world that you are persistent, fierce and strong.
With all the madness that was going on, you refused to give up. I know it wasn't easy, because even a blind man could see that the music industry can be vicious.
Of course, you had a good reason to want to break free from Dr. Luke's contract. Sexual assault is a serious issue that isn't addressed enough, or taken as seriously as it should be.
When the judge denied your request, my heart broke for you. I couldn't imagine how you felt. The judge looked at it as a "contract that was heavily negotiated" but didn't even think twice about your safety or even bother to look at you as a human.
But that didn't stop you.
You were determined to keep pushing forward with your career and your music despite the odds.
You didn't inspire me because of your music, your style or your crazy hair colors, but you inspired me because of your strength.
Now here you are, a year later with your song "Praying" that moved me to tears. The one thing that I love about it is that it's an anthem that represents forgiveness, strength and moving forward.
I cannot wait to hear "Rainbow" next month.
I can proudly say "Kesha, thank you for inspiring me."
