Back in October of 2015, the famous singer, Kesha, first came out and accused her producer, Dr. Luke, of sexually and mentally assaulting her. She claimed that it all started from when she began working with Dr. Luke when she was just 18 years old. For over a decade, she said that she was drugged, raped, and abused continuously by her producer. The singer even said that it was because of what Dr. Luke did that she had an eating disorder. Once she went to rehab, she said that she found the strength to finally do something, to finally fight back.
Thousands of her fans started protesting as Kesha waited for her trail to come. Just this Friday, February 19, Kesha stood in front of the judge and told everyone what happened to her, hoping that her nightmare would end. Unfortunately, the judge didn't rule in her favor and said that it wouldn't make sense to end a contract that was carefully negotiated and is the type of contract that all industries use. Of course, Dr. Luke denies all accusations and his attorneys are arguing that the events are vague and that Kesha waited too long to say something. They are also accusing the singer of making all of this up just to get back at Dr. Luke for not letting Kesha do what she wants. Apparently, the producer also filed a lawsuit against Kesha for breaching her contract with him.
I believe Kesha entirely, and I think that the judge should have at least allowed her to get out of the contract so she wouldn't have to continue to work with her abuser. Now, because the judge denied her that right, she is practically being forced to work with the man until her contract is up, which I think is horrible. There has to be something that can be done to make it better for Kesha. She went through all of this abuse for years and when she finally did something, in hopes to get justice, it was pulled right from her. It seems like the only people who have her back are the people that love her, her family, and her fans. At least she knows that there are people who stand with her and will do just about anything to free her from the hell she's in.
