Now that the old year is behind us (whew, what was that all about?), the new year is right in front of us. It promises new expectations, excitements, and adventures (I can hardly wait!). There is much to look forward to what 2017 will bring and having a positive attitude always helps. Sometimes, we start off with a big goal, but it can't be achieved in one big step or in a small amount of time. It's the little goals and steps that count; working toward every step with commitment, effort, and enthusiasum will make the big goal much more easily achieved.

When composing your resolutions, you can list out the big goals you want to accomplish. Then under those listings of big goals, critically think about why these goals are important to you. You made these goals to improve yourself and your lifestyle. Knowing if the goal can be achieved is also important because the level of commitment and time managment is crucial to sticking to accomplishing what you want.

After critically thinking about your goals, write out or type how to accomplish them. If you are more of a visual learner, actually LOOK at your goal. In this way, the goal you see has more power. An example of a visual goal is cutting out pictures of magazines, if you want to have a kick ass body, you cut out a bikini model. However, keep in mind, goals must be realistic. You can also tell your friends and family your goals, you may be surprised be the support they give you. Telling your close friends and family your setbacks is awkward, but when they tell you of their experiences with their setbacks and how they overcame them, you are set back on a positive track. When your friends and family know what you are going through, you gain the support you need because they want you to succeed. Then when you tell your close friends and family of your accomplishment, you are rained with ovation and told that they wish they were like you.

It helps to set up a game plan. For instance, if you are saving up money for an expensive car or house, calculate how much cash you can live on currently and then how much you can save. Accomplishing smaller goals will eventually lead to the big goal being achieved. Setting a date to reach your goal gives you focus. You can work toward that particular day, measuring your progress, and urging yourself to put in the effort and time.

With your game plan for the new year that is ahead of you, don't forget to always put in your best effort and putting on a positive attitude! It works wonders when you are enthusiastic. Try it! The experience is more interesting and even easier than you though it would be and sooner than you know it, you have accomplished your goal.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
