We all know that keeping our collective lists of New Year’s resolutions is challenging for even a week, let alone 12 months, but it is a possible feat to conquer. Here are some ways to climb over that mountain of your previous sedentary lifestyle:
1. Make smaller resolutions.
By making smaller resolutions, it becomes easier to follow them through. You could choose something like drinking more water, or being kinder to people. Both of these examples are some very easy ways to brighten your life a day at a time.
2. Write them down, and keep them where you can see them daily.
Usually, if you can see something every day, you think about it more. If you’re thinking more about your resolutions, it’s easier to carry them out.
Write it on a piece of paper, and tape it to your wall. Write it in all caps on your calendar, post-it note it next to your bed . . .
3. Work with a friend.
Two people are better than one. Get a friend to work with you, and hold you accountable in keeping your resolutions.
You’ll find that keeping your resolutions will not only make you feel better, but they will strengthen your character. It will be easier to set goals, and keep them in the future.
