Why You Should Consistently Keep A Journal
Heritage Wedding

Have you ever had a really great idea that you forgot? Or maybe it was an amazing dream that you couldn't remember when you woke up. All of these small little things can become something even better if only you would write them down. Did you know that some great books were based on dreams?

For example, "Misery" by Stephen King, "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley, and even "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte. Ever dreamed of writing a book? Well you could get a good start on ideas by just writing your dreams down! While we are dreaming, we are sometimes the most creative we will ever be. Don't be afraid if something you dream is super strange or scary; dreams only have to serve as a basis for further creativity.

Now dreams aren't the only reason that keeping a journal is a good idea. Has something ever just popped into your mind, maybe a super random fact or idea, and then later on when you are trying to remember what it was, you can't?

Well, guess what? If you carry a journal with you 24/7 you won't have to worry about forgetting things ever again. I know, I know; "I can just put all of that information in my phone." Well, what happens if you put all of the things you need to remember (i.e. passwords, dates, numbers, etc.) in your phone and then your phone breaks and you lose all of that information? Paper has been and always will be more reliable than technology.

Are you artistic? Keeping a journal with you will allow you to sketch, paint, color whatever you want, whenever you want. This is especially important if you are going on vacation, on a hike, or anywhere where there will be beautiful scenery. Instead of taking your camera, take a sketchbook.

Sketching will help you remember the event more as well as actually being able to take in the scenery. If all you do is take pictures, you aren't really looking at what's around you so much as just snapping a pic to post on social media later. Also, if you want to get better at drawing, carrying a journal and sketching something whenever you can will help you improve.

The most common reason that people keep journals is for a daily record of what happened to them that day, also known as a diary. Keeping a diary will be especially helpful if you are stressed, angry, scared, or excited. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you find out if something is bothering you or help you get over a fear you may have. It's also nice to be able to look back on things you've done and be able to relive those things.

Keeping a journal is something that can seem so insignificant but can only help you. If you think always carrying a journal is going to be a pain in the butt, just remember that journals come in all different shapes and sizes— like this one.

So remember, if you can manage to carry a phone with you everywhere you go, you can carry a journal.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
